Share a moment that you wish you had a video camera…Being the mom of four gives me ample opportunities to wish I had caught something with a video camera. I’m a “mama-razzi” for sure, constantly snapping photos of the kids, but sometimes a still photo just doesn’t do the situation justice. Take this shot for example:
Wouldn’t you like to know what in the world went on during this shot?? Yeah, me too. I’ve sort of forgotten what exactly led to the Elvis hair, but I bet it was hilarious. The photo alone makes me laugh. This is your standard “family” picture. Wouldn’t some video go well with it?
Then there is something like this:
I’ve said before that I was glad someone had the presence of mind to snap this picture. But there was so much more to be had that day. It would have been awesome to see the faces of the kids as they greeted the daddy they’ve been missing for almost a year, or to see Daddy meet his new baby he has only known through pictures and letters. I wish I’d had a video of those moments.
This Christmas we purchased a Flip Mino HD for my husband’s parents. It is seriously the coolest little video camera. Also, to ease our concern, we found it literally so easy Grandpa can run it. The video is fabulous, even on their large HDTV screen. I totally want one. The new Flip SlideHD is out and I know with a camera this small and easy to use I wouldn’t be sorry I missed another moment.
Is there a moment YOU wish you’d had a video camera? Take a few minutes to share and YOU could WIN $200 (and perhaps use it to get your own Flip SlideHD so you don’t miss another opportunity!!) Enter by Jun 14, 2010!!

First! My video moment has to be the first time my son met his new sister. She was wheeled into my room and he went up to her little clear bassinet and said
ReplyDelete"Hi baby. I'm your big brother and I'm gonna love you forever. I'll never stop loving you."
I replay that moment over and over in my head.

ReplyDeleteSeriously, Leah, trying not to cry. I'll have to think on my moment. Not being a Mommy, I probably don't have a good one, but will try.
ReplyDeleteI spent 19 months being told my child would never walk, talk, or be more than he was. (Mel, you know the story...)I so wish I had had a video camera the day Jack took his first steps--in Physical Therapy--in front of all of us who were cheering him on. Those first little timid steps--that was the most incredible miracle I had ever witnessed.
ReplyDeleteIncidentally, Jack threw my video camera in the trash. And I emptied the trash. And never knew it. Until later. When I cried for hours because it's gone. And I Want a Flip. Because I have a Jack. And he does stuff like this. ;)
Also, I follow you, I now follow your blog and I'm tweeting. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh my! I have SO many moments! The times that Cole (my baby with cerebral palsy..you know my story too) happens to sit unassisted for a matter of 2 seconds, the times he happens to squeeze out what sounds like may have been "momma", his first steps in his KidWalk...I would love to have the Flip prior to his first steps WITHOUT his KidWalk!
ReplyDeleteI already follow this blog! =)

ReplyDeleteCollegeSon arrived home for spring break in his Academy uniform. Family members were gathered in the driveway so that I stopped the car near the street. My 4-year-old great-niece ran to him and he immediately squatted to her level and accepted a hug. Big aawww!. No camera!

I wish I had a video camera when my son started to crawl for the first time. My husband was out of town for work and I know he would have loved to have seen it.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had had a video camera when my husband came home from afghanistan. I would have loved to have taped the homecoming ceremony.
ReplyDeleteI wish I would've had a camera when my daughter was born. Not a spread eagle shot, mind you, but when they set her on my chest (since I was so delirious I don't remember any of it). Boo. :(
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a video camera when we brought our precious little girl home from the hospital.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had had a video camera when my husband proposed!!! Also when we got married we did not splurge for video but we could have had someone film for us!!!

ReplyDeleteI wish I had a video camera when twins were born. We were so excited and although we have pics, a video would have been better.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a video camera during my second pregnancy and our move from hawaii to colorado (they were at the same time). Heck, I didn't even HAVE a point and shoot camera...just my measly little camera on my computer. It was terrible to not get our memories documented during our last few months in hawaii...or to be able to capture my growing belly. i would LOVE one of these! ;)
ReplyDeleteI wish I would have had one when my daughter was first born. We had this big clunky one that was just made it unfriendly to use so those early memories never got captured. :(
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a video camera when I was in high school! so many good memories about that time of my life and I have not that many pictures of those years (you know! tecnology was kind of limited)
ReplyDeleteEvery time my hermit crabs do anything ridiculous. Because most of the time they just look like rocks.

I wish I'd had a flip when my German Shepherd had his first visit to the lake. I would have begged him as eager to jump into the water, but he just barked and bit at the waters edge scared to go in. Even his beloved ball being thrown out to fetch couldn't lure him in!

ReplyDeleteThe moment I wish I had on camera is the day when my bf was supposed to introduce a film at a film festival...he is a very good speaker, but I am shy...and he lost his voice! So we got up in front of that audience together and he "pantomimed" his speech in some kind of made up sign language while I spoke into the microphone. We cracked ourselves up!

I would love to capture my son's love of airplanes. As soon as he hears one, he goes running to the closest adult and says "hurry, hurry hear it, go see" and expects you to take him outside to find the plane in the sky. Too cute.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had one the first time my daughter stepped into the ocean. It was hilarious!
ReplyDeleteOOOH! I had pictures taken when my hubby came home from Astan, but I agree -- a video would have been fantastic! Sign me up!

ReplyDeleteI could have really used a video camera when I spent the weekend with my cousins sewing my wedding dress. We got a bit loopy trying to get the sleeves to work. And now that they aren’t able to join us for the wedding it would be nice to have that memory saved in video… we didn’t even end up taking pictures
ReplyDeleteWhen the kids were waiting on puppies to be born, they were so excited
ReplyDeleteMy family is very close to a little girl named Mila, and nearly every time Mila is around, I wish I could video tape the entire visit!
ReplyDeleteI wish we had had a flip camera when we went to Hawaii last year...so many cool things I could have filmed!

I wish I'd had a camera to record my old cat before she was gone. She loved to chase laser pointers and flash light beams but the best part was when you first turned the light on, she would follow it with her eyes and make this weird clicking sound, it wasn't quite a meow, and her jaw would quiver. It was the strangest thing. I miss that cat so much she was the best.
ReplyDeleteI'm also following your blog now too! i love new blogs!
ReplyDeleteI wish now that I had video of my ages-ago high school musicals. Most of the cast members and I have stayed friends over lots of years, and I’d love to see us “the way we were.” Unfortunately, these performances took place in the days before parents lined up with camcorders.

Dang it. Where'd all these people come from? How the heck am I supposed to win with all this competition? I tweeted. Obviously.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a flip camera when one of our dogs was lying on her back begging for a belly rub, rolled a little too far, and fell off the bed...resulting in my husband and myself dissolving into laughter. Poor puppy.
ReplyDeleteI wish I recorded my son asking "are inch worms called inch worms because they measure things?"!
ReplyDeletehey, i would love a video camera to record my sessions with clients when they are interested. currently i only have a tape recorder for this.

I wish I had a flip camera to record the everyday moments we have with our daughter.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a video camera to tape my friend doing charades. Every time he comes up with ridiculous, crazy things. If somebody put it on YouTube, he could be famous overnight. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWith a 2 week old and an 18 month old, I’m sure there are many fun snippets in my future. But I wish that I would have been able to whip out my video camera on Mother’s Day this year when the 18 month old was mimicking her Dad yelling into paper towel tube. He made a few generic grunts and howls and animal noises and then he gave me the best Mother’s day present ever by yelling “I love Mommy” into the tube so that my sweet, precious 18 month old girl yelled “Ah Ahhhhh Momma!!!” It was a loose interpretation, but I know what she meant.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have a horrible memory. I rely on pictures and videos to hold on to the past.
I wish I had had a Flip Camera a few weeks ago, when I was visiting my family in Seattle and saw my two little nephews (4 and 2 years old) riding their bikes together for the first time! Something that adorable should have been captured on video!
ReplyDeleteI wish I would have had a video camera right after my daughter was born. We missed those special moments bonding together and I so wish we had captured them on video!

I would love to catch a video of my cat fetching her plastic ball. No one believes that she does it! She bats it down the stairs, goes chasing after it and brings it back up to do it all over again.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to record every day things my husband and I do for my family. They live on the other side of the country, and it would be nice for them to see me more often, even if not in person.
I'd like to have an easy way to capture our outdoor hikes and rides
ReplyDeletePretty much every moment of my kids lives need a video camera. I can't pick one specific moment, for sure!

I wish I had a flip with me at my daughter's confirmation three Sundays ago. She volunteered to stand in front of the entire congregation and give her testimony. I can't remember a time that I was more proud of her! She is turning into an amazing young lady and I want to capture every single minute!
ReplyDeleteI wish that I had one when my husband proposed to me. We have a couple pictures after he proposed, but I really, really wish we had a video of the actual proposal. Everything else was perfect, except that we have no video :(
ReplyDeleteI wish I had video of our first date - but I've got memories.

Gosh, where to start? When my autistic son, who at that time can't even say his name, started singing along to Martha Munizzi's cd in the car. Or when he said "I wab yu" for the ist time. I wish I had also recorded him when he can't talk so I can see how far he's come today.
ReplyDeleteI follow this blog and your family blog too, :)
ReplyDeleteOh!! The ENTIRE family wishes we'd had a video camera for THIS one! On my son's 6th or 7th birthday, I gave him a card with 4 single dollar bills in it ('cause little kids like the singles; they think it's a lot of money!) Although he had a LOT of great presents, he totally flipped when he opened the card! He shouted, "I got FOUR dollars!!! I got FOUR dollars!!" and he started dancing around the room holding up the money!! It was TOTally an "America's Funniest Video" moment!

Wow! There are a lot but the one that stands out the most is when husband and I were camping (before children) and we had found a camping spot and set up and that evening a couple came up and said that they had claimed the campsite before we got there. The scene was so funny, since we were in dirty pj's and husband had on a cowboy hat and bandana! The man had wanted to be tuff, but he lost all his steam when he saw us! Soo funny! And the conversation was even more funny! They walked off with the lady, wrapping her arm around comforting the man!
ReplyDeleteI also wish I had one last Easter! It was so much fun to watch the children and wish I had them filmed so they could watch it when they get older!

Ugh, so many moments (we've never had a video camera). But definitely when our litte ones first started walking- I'd love to have that on tape!
ReplyDeleteI have a little 9 month old and my parents are across the states, so I wish I could record everything he does! One of the most recent things that he has been doing is pretending to chew gum. Everyone around him (me-mom, dad, and the in-laws) are constantly chewing gum, so now he smacks his mouth trying to copy us when we chew gum! It is the cutest thing!

One day my 6 yr old was unhappy with the decision we’d made about something. He kept demanding that we reconsider, and then the kicker was, he added for effect, “I’m NOT joking.” It was one of those had-to-be-there moments, but we laughed about that for so long. Wish I had it on film.
ReplyDeleteamiedanny@msn.com
I wish I had had a video camera when my son was 11 months old and climbed into the clothes dryer. Fortunately I did capture it on film, but I would have loved to get the video footage as well!
ReplyDeleteI am sure my mother would love to have a video of a backseat argument that my brother and I had. It went something like this: (and I hear about it all the time, infamous word I will never live down)
ReplyDelete"Mom he's touching me!"
"Marshal stay on your side of the line!"
"Mom he's looking at me!!!"
"Marshal please stop looking at your sister." My mom said, now slightly annoyed.
"Mommmm. . . he's thinking about looking at me!!!"
At this point both of my parents burst out laughing and I have heard about if for years! If I had it on video I could prove it happened.

I am always wishing I had a video camera. My babies are 2 and 3 and are always saying and doing the cutest things that a picture just doesn't show.
ReplyDeleteFor instance this past Easter my daughter had just turned 3 and for the first time understood the concept of an Easter Egg Hunt. My little boy picked up the eggs but had to open each one before putting it in his basket. I would have loved to capture that perfect day on video.

I wish that i had my flip on me when i got to go snorkeling with my family and manatees in Florida. It was the best experience ever. I would have killed to go back and time and have my flip with me.. Even though my flip only has 30 minutes on it.. which was not nearly enough time for the memories that i had that day.
ReplyDeleteAnd that is why i carry my flip on me AT ALL TIMES!!!!
I wish I had a video camera when my son was born and my entire family, siblings, grandparents, etc. were at the hospital for his delivery! I would love to have all that love on video.

My 3 year old nephew...who is a handful...is always into something. Last time I visited, he showed up to my dad's house wearing spongebob pajamas, light up cowboy boots and he had a smiley face drawn on his forehead. My sister blamed his dad who let him dress himself. He proceeded to put on a show for all of us. I wish I had caught him on camera!

Hi, Mel! I wish we had a video camera for our wedding. Sadly, I told a friend to show up and record it with his, and he never showed up! I didn't know until it was over. I was bummed. I've heard from friends that they never watch their wedding videos, but I would have enjoyed seeing it again once in awhile. We just had an anniversary, and it would have been nice to see. Oh well, just think about how much our kids will have on video compared to when we were kids!

My 11 year old daughter gave an oral presentation in class and I wish I'd had a little Flip with me that was not so obvious so I could have it for posterity...the first time she had to speak in front of class that she was actually confident enough to speak loudly enough to be heard! :) A big video camera would have made her too nervous.

ReplyDeleteOk so with 4 children there are so many moments in life that I wish I could have recorded and could watch again and again. But my favorite moment was with my husband. My husband Jeremy's birthday is April 1st so every year Jeremy's sister try's to play an April fools day joke on him but last year 2009 I got them all. We had our 4th child in Dec 2008 and our last 3 children are really close in age. So in the middle of March 2009 I had a friend of mine who was pregnant pee on a test and I told him I was pregnant. He told everyone and I keep telling him he should wait to tell people until the ultrasound. Then I went on the computer and found an ultrasound of twins and changed all the info on it to make it look like mine. I invited his mom and sister over on April 1 for a party for Jeremy. When he opened his card, this is when I wish I would have had a video camera, I had the ultrasound picture in there, he was freaking out. Then I told him April fools day. You should have seen his face! He thought I was just joking about the twins and when I said I'm not pregnant. I had every one going. "What your not pregnant? Are you serious?" It was the best joke I've ever played on anyone, funniest too. :)
ReplyDeleteWish I had the video camera when my brother graduated last weekend, I was stuck and traffic and almost thought that I would miss it, but I made it just in time for them to call his name, and I screamed so loud my voice went out! I was sooo proud!
ReplyDeleteThe worst moment for me was when my niece started walking and I couldn’t picture it. I wanted a camera then more than anything

I smiled and said of course!!! We hugged and she whispered to me thank you for coming to see me it made me feel so special!!! I would loved to have that moment captured for ever!!!!

I wish I'd had a video camera back in the 70s when my babies were babies! Now that I have a grandbaby, those moments captured on video are treasures.
ReplyDeleteI wish I would have had a video camera when my daughter was doing a "show" for us! She is in love with Alvin & the Chipmunks! She made my husband and I and some of our friends sit there quietly while she sang "So What!" and danced all around. She shakes her hips like a 4 yr old probably shouldn't know how to do! My husband has said she's not allowed to dance outside of the house!! lol

i wish I had a video camera when my daughter was pushing my son in the swing at the park and he started laughing with the wind in his hair as he looked at his sister
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a video of my daughter breaking into perfect form ballet the first time she put a tutu on! It was hilarious and amazing! She's quite the little dancer! :0)

I wish I had had a video camera when my daughter took her first steps. I thought it would never happen since she was 16 months old. I don't want to miss catching my newborn's first steps too.

Hello, I wish I had the celebration of my wedding on video tape. My husband and got married really young. Instead of feeding me the wedding cake, he took it in his hand and pressed it against my face, laughing. I had to go blow wedding cake out my nose while laughing. His friend said we wouldn't last three months--I also wish i'd gotten that on tape. It's been 21 years. Now, I wish i could get our tailless cat on tape climbing things. She's hilarious.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had video memories of my grandfather playing bluegrass gospel music. He loved bluegrass and played with a group of old men who traveled to nursing homes, retirement centers, hospitals, etc and played for others. I loved going to listen to them play at various venues but our children were babies and don't remember it. Now my grandfather is not able to even play due to his health and my kids have a great relationship with him but no memories of his love of bluegrass gospel and his talent in playing. I wish so badly I had videos for them to watch of those times because all 3 of our children are musical and play instruments and would love to watch those videos.
ReplyDeleteThis past Friday my brother was staying the night at my sisters home that she shares with her fiance. Scott (my brother) last remembers falling asleep on the couch. At some point in the middle of the night, he began sleep walking and eventually found himself in my sister and her fiances bed - sleeping next to them. They all awoke at the same time when my sisters alarm went off at 6am and hilarity (and confusion) ensued. Man, I wish I could have seen that. Over, and over again. Haha... Thanks for the great giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteI wished I had a video camera at least a thousand " You should've seen it " moments. My life could be a TV show. Then there's all my artistic reasons. Picking one is like choosing the most beautiful rainbow I've seen. Well, here goes! I'm a 34 year old mom of three lovely girls;18 years old, 10, and 2 months. Also, as I call them, my two furry kids. Pugs, one's a 7 year old, overweight granny type. The other is a spritely, lean, 2 year old. They're also girls. We had finally brought home our new baby. She already proved her strength during her first twenty days in the NICU. She'd pulled through a tough time and come out strong, healthy, and beautiful. Lots of soft, dark brown hair framed her tiny face and striking blue eyes. Her two older sisters, older copies of the baby and I sat beside her with our dogs on the floor surrounding the baby on her playmat. She was laying on her tummy cooing and gooing in conversation with us all. She was a month old now and she'd been lifting her head up for more than a week. The dogs stared at the baby with their heads cocked as if to say,"Exactly WHAT are you?" We all oohed and aahed while baby played while totally ignoring the dogs totally. Up til now they'd been the babies. All of a sudden the small pug darted forward and licked the babies ear! Everyone's eyes practicly popped out of their heads. The baby turned away from the dog and rolled over onto her back for the first time! We were all reaching at once but it was instantaneous. The baby landed safely, still on the playmat and laughed, also a first! All I could day was, "I WISH I had a video camera!" We all laughed.
ReplyDeleteI wish that i had one when we first adopted our dog he was so much different then! scg00387 at yahoo dot com

ReplyDeleteI wish I had a video camera the week before last, because that was when my entire family finally got together all in the same place, all at the same time.
ReplyDeleteWe met the 5 new babies in the family...old faces we hadn't seen in forever and may not see again. Everyone was so happy, conversations seemed to go on forever, but in a good way! I ended up having two of the babies Isaiah and Rosalee fall asleep on me at the end of the evening.
All we had were photos, but video of those sleeping faces would have been adorable.

I wish I had had a video camera when I held my son the first time. I had a c-section after two days of labor and various other nightmare issues (his heart rate dropped so low the day before we almost lost him) and I was shaking on the table, too scared to hold him after he was finally born because I thought I might drop him. Ten minutes later, after all the drugs started to wear off a little and the shaking slowed, I got to hold my baby boy for the first time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to win!

I missed capturing both of my kids after tyhey were born and I really wish I got them on video right after the birth. Not during but I would like to have the moment afterwards because that is something that only happens once and I want that memory forever.

I wish someone had a camera pointed at me the time I went to get the mail and it was colder than I thought. I ran to get the mail and on the way back I tripped and ended up superman flying with the mail flying ahead of me onto the sidewalk. I laid there stunned for several minutes and then couldn't get up because I was laughing so hard. I would have loved to see that video.
ReplyDeleteI wish I would have caught my son's last football game - when he was thrown a pass and was going in for a touchdown and the entire team was chanting his name! A very proud moment we would love to live over again!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a Flip when my best friend and I crossed the finish line after walking 60 miles at the Dallas Komen 3-Day in 2008. We were tired, injured, mentally exhausted, and in tears… but we walked across the finish line hand-in-hand into closing ceremonies. It was one of the biggest accomplishments of our lives and it would have been fantastic to have digital proof. Hopefully we can rectify that since we are doing it again in November.
