Share your story and you could win $200!

This is sponsored content from BlogHer and Flip Video.

Share a moment that you wish you had a video camera…

Being the mom of four gives me ample opportunities to wish I had caught something with a video camera. I’m a “mama-razzi” for sure, constantly snapping photos of the kids, but sometimes a still photo just doesn’t do the situation justice. Take this shot for example:

IMG_4852a Wouldn’t you like to know what in the world went on during this shot?? Yeah, me too. I’ve sort of forgotten what exactly led to the Elvis hair, but I bet it was hilarious. The photo alone makes me laugh. This is your standard “family” picture. Wouldn’t some video go well with it?

Then there is something like this:

daddyhome I’ve said before that I was glad someone had the presence of mind to snap this picture. But there was so much more to be had that day. It would have been awesome to see the faces of the kids as they greeted the daddy they’ve been missing for almost a year, or to see Daddy meet his new baby he has only known through pictures and letters. I wish I’d had a video of those moments.

This Christmas we purchased a Flip Mino HD for my husband’s parents. It is seriously the coolest little video camera. Also, to ease our concern, we found it literally so easy Grandpa can run it. The video is fabulous, even on their large HDTV screen. I totally want one. The new Flip SlideHD is out and I know with a camera this small and easy to use I wouldn’t be sorry I missed another moment.

Is there a moment YOU wish you’d had a video camera? Take a few minutes to share and YOU could WIN $200 (and perhaps use it to get your own Flip SlideHD so you don’t miss another opportunity!!) Enter by Jun 14, 2010!!

  1. First! My video moment has to be the first time my son met his new sister. She was wheeled into my room and he went up to her little clear bassinet and said

"Hi baby. I'm your big brother and I'm gonna love you forever. I'll never stop loving you."

I replay that moment over and over in my head.

  3. Seriously, Leah, trying not to cry. I'll have to think on my moment. Not being a Mommy, I probably don't have a good one, but will try.

  4. I spent 19 months being told my child would never walk, talk, or be more than he was. (Mel, you know the story...)I so wish I had had a video camera the day Jack took his first steps--in Physical Therapy--in front of all of us who were cheering him on. Those first little timid steps--that was the most incredible miracle I had ever witnessed.

Incidentally, Jack threw my video camera in the trash. And I emptied the trash. And never knew it. Until later. When I cried for hours because it's gone. And I Want a Flip. Because I have a Jack. And he does stuff like this. ;)

  6. Oh my! I have SO many moments! The times that Cole (my baby with cerebral palsy..you know my story too) happens to sit unassisted for a matter of 2 seconds, the times he happens to squeeze out what sounds like may have been "momma", his first steps in his KidWalk...I would love to have the Flip prior to his first steps WITHOUT his KidWalk!

  9. CollegeSon arrived home for spring break in his Academy uniform. Family members were gathered in the driveway so that I stopped the car near the street. My 4-year-old great-niece ran to him and he immediately squatted to her level and accepted a hug. Big aawww!. No camera!

  16. I wish I had a video camera during my second pregnancy and our move from hawaii to colorado (they were at the same time). Heck, I didn't even HAVE a point and shoot camera...just my measly little camera on my computer. It was terrible to not get our memories documented during our last few months in hawaii...or to be able to capture my growing belly. i would LOVE one of these! ;)

  17. I wish I would have had one when my daughter was first born. We had this big clunky one that was just made it unfriendly to use so those early memories never got captured. :(

  25. The moment I wish I had on camera is the day when my bf was supposed to introduce a film at a film festival...he is a very good speaker, but I am shy...and he lost his voice! So we got up in front of that audience together and he "pantomimed" his speech in some kind of made up sign language while I spoke into the microphone. We cracked ourselves up!

And now that they aren’t able to join us for the wedding it would be nice to have that memory saved in video… we didn’t even end up taking pictures

  34. I wish I'd had a camera to record my old cat before she was gone. She loved to chase laser pointers and flash light beams but the best part was when you first turned the light on, she would follow it with her eyes and make this weird clicking sound, it wasn't quite a meow, and her jaw would quiver. It was the strangest thing. I miss that cat so much she was the best.

  45. With a 2 week old and an 18 month old, I’m sure there are many fun snippets in my future. But I wish that I would have been able to whip out my video camera on Mother’s Day this year when the 18 month old was mimicking her Dad yelling into paper towel tube. He made a few generic grunts and howls and animal noises and then he gave me the best Mother’s day present ever by yelling “I love Mommy” into the tube so that my sweet, precious 18 month old girl yelled “Ah Ahhhhh Momma!!!” It was a loose interpretation, but I know what she meant.

Also, I have a horrible memory. I rely on pictures and videos to hold on to the past.

On my son's 6th or 7th birthday, I gave him a card with 4 single dollar bills in it ('cause little kids like the singles; they think it's a lot of money!) Although he had a LOT of great presents, he totally flipped when he opened the card! He shouted, "I got FOUR dollars!!! I got FOUR dollars!!" and he started dancing around the room holding up the money!! It was TOTally an "America's Funniest Video" moment!

  74. Wow! There are a lot but the one that stands out the most is when husband and I were camping (before children) and we had found a camping spot and set up and that evening a couple came up and said that they had claimed the campsite before we got there. The scene was so funny, since we were in dirty pj's and husband had on a cowboy hat and bandana! The man had wanted to be tuff, but he lost all his steam when he saw us! Soo funny! And the conversation was even more funny! They walked off with the lady, wrapping her arm around comforting the man!

I also wish I had one last Easter! It was so much fun to watch the children and wish I had them filmed so they could watch it when they get older!

    "Mom he's touching me!"
"Marshal stay on your side of the line!"
    "Mom he's looking at me!!!"
"Marshal please stop looking at your sister." My mom said, now slightly annoyed.
"Mommmm. . . he's thinking about looking at me!!!"

At this point both of my parents burst out laughing and I have heard about if for years! If I had it on video I could prove it happened.

  129. Ok so with 4 children there are so many moments in life that I wish I could have recorded and could watch again and again. But my favorite moment was with my husband. My husband Jeremy's birthday is April 1st so every year Jeremy's sister try's to play an April fools day joke on him but last year 2009 I got them all. We had our 4th child in Dec 2008 and our last 3 children are really close in age. So in the middle of March 2009 I had a friend of mine who was pregnant pee on a test and I told him I was pregnant. He told everyone and I keep telling him he should wait to tell people until the ultrasound. Then I went on the computer and found an ultrasound of twins and changed all the info on it to make it look like mine. I invited his mom and sister over on April 1 for a party for Jeremy. When he opened his card, this is when I wish I would have had a video camera, I had the ultrasound picture in there, he was freaking out. Then I told him April fools day. You should have seen his face! He thought I was just joking about the twins and when I said I'm not pregnant. I had every one going. "What your not pregnant? Are you serious?" It was the best joke I've ever played on anyone, funniest too. :)

  162. Hello, I wish I had the celebration of my wedding on video tape. My husband and got married really young. Instead of feeding me the wedding cake, he took it in his hand and pressed it against my face, laughing. I had to go blow wedding cake out my nose while laughing. His friend said we wouldn't last three months--I also wish i'd gotten that on tape. It's been 21 years. Now, I wish i could get our tailless cat on tape climbing things. She's hilarious.

  163. I wish I had video memories of my grandfather playing bluegrass gospel music. He loved bluegrass and played with a group of old men who traveled to nursing homes, retirement centers, hospitals, etc and played for others. I loved going to listen to them play at various venues but our children were babies and don't remember it. Now my grandfather is not able to even play due to his health and my kids have a great relationship with him but no memories of his love of bluegrass gospel and his talent in playing. I wish so badly I had videos for them to watch of those times because all 3 of our children are musical and play instruments and would love to watch those videos.

  164. This past Friday my brother was staying the night at my sisters home that she shares with her fiance. Scott (my brother) last remembers falling asleep on the couch. At some point in the middle of the night, he began sleep walking and eventually found himself in my sister and her fiances bed - sleeping next to them. They all awoke at the same time when my sisters alarm went off at 6am and hilarity (and confusion) ensued. Man, I wish I could have seen that. Over, and over again. Haha... Thanks for the great giveaway!!

  165. I wished I had a video camera at least a thousand " You should've seen it " moments. My life could be a TV show. Then there's all my artistic reasons. Picking one is like choosing the most beautiful rainbow I've seen. Well, here goes! I'm a 34 year old mom of three lovely girls;18 years old, 10, and 2 months. Also, as I call them, my two furry kids. Pugs, one's a 7 year old, overweight granny type. The other is a spritely, lean, 2 year old. They're also girls. We had finally brought home our new baby. She already proved her strength during her first twenty days in the NICU. She'd pulled through a tough time and come out strong, healthy, and beautiful. Lots of soft, dark brown hair framed her tiny face and striking blue eyes. Her two older sisters, older copies of the baby and I sat beside her with our dogs on the floor surrounding the baby on her playmat. She was laying on her tummy cooing and gooing in conversation with us all. She was a month old now and she'd been lifting her head up for more than a week. The dogs stared at the baby with their heads cocked as if to say,"Exactly WHAT are you?" We all oohed and aahed while baby played while totally ignoring the dogs totally. Up til now they'd been the babies. All of a sudden the small pug darted forward and licked the babies ear! Everyone's eyes practicly popped out of their heads. The baby turned away from the dog and rolled over onto her back for the first time! We were all reaching at once but it was instantaneous. The baby landed safely, still on the playmat and laughed, also a first! All I could day was, "I WISH I had a video camera!" We all laughed.

  168. I wish I had a video camera the week before last, because that was when my entire family finally got together all in the same place, all at the same time.
We met the 5 new babies in the family...old faces we hadn't seen in forever and may not see again. Everyone was so happy, conversations seemed to go on forever, but in a good way! I ended up having two of the babies Isaiah and Rosalee fall asleep on me at the end of the evening.
All we had were photos, but video of those sleeping faces would have been adorable.

  171. I wish I had had a video camera when I held my son the first time. I had a c-section after two days of labor and various other nightmare issues (his heart rate dropped so low the day before we almost lost him) and I was shaking on the table, too scared to hold him after he was finally born because I thought I might drop him. Ten minutes later, after all the drugs started to wear off a little and the shaking slowed, I got to hold my baby boy for the first time.
Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  184. I wish I had a Flip when my best friend and I crossed the finish line after walking 60 miles at the Dallas Komen 3-Day in 2008. We were tired, injured, mentally exhausted, and in tears… but we walked across the finish line hand-in-hand into closing ceremonies. It was one of the biggest accomplishments of our lives and it would have been fantastic to have digital proof. Hopefully we can rectify that since we are doing it again in November.
